Top eBay Sales: December 2015

Sorry for the long absence from the air waves, it’s been a crazy time, trying to buy a house, handling Christmas with our families, and figuring out our school schedules for next semester!  But of course, we still have to share with you our top sales for the month of December.  This month we are taking a slightly different track, sharing with you not only our items that sold for a great return, but a couple lesser known brands that are smaller but consistent sellers for us.  Also, stay tuned for a blog update later in the week where we show you a method that many people have used to double their sales!

Item: Rare Smith Brooks UK DC Comics Superman High Tops – Men’s Size 12
Paid Price: $9.99
Sale Price: $110 (Best Offer Accepted)
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
I had never of the brand, but the subject matter was an undeniable win!  High quality adult size comic book shoes?  I figured there was a nerd somewhere who would pay top dollar for these.  Especially when I couldn’t find anything like them on eBay!  They took about 5 months to sell but were totally worth it!

Item: Vintage Alamo Challenger Amp – Model 2562
Paid Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $219.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
Many people steer away from items such as this because they don’t know how to test it!  But imagine, you could but this guitar buy, buy a guitar to test it, and still come out ahead when you sell it!  Vintage guitar related memorabilia is often worth a mint.  This amp was on the lower end of value but still paid off nicely for us!

Item: True Grit Ultra Soft Deep Pill Fleece Half Zip Pullover – Men’s Size XL
Paid Price: $5.00
Sale Price: $79.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
I actually purchased this pullover for myself after feeling how incredibely soft it was!  Unfortunatley I didn’t really like the way it fit and was going to redonate it.  On a whim I looked it up, and 4 days later it sold!  True Grit is a mid-high end outdoor brand which makes unusual clothing for both men and women.  Check out some solds on eBay here!

Item: Olympus Pearlcorder S701 Microcassette Dictaphone Recorder
Paid Price: Free!
Sale Price: $24.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
A storage unit down the road from us was doing some cleaning and we found this in a free box!  Always be on the lookout for opportunities!  We also found some new bibs from The North Face, and $400 worth of collectors games in the box!

Item: Vintage Jansport Drawstring Mini Backpack – Half Pint – Leather Top – Aztec
Paid Price: $4
Sale Price: $49.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
People love southwester/aztec print!  Especially when it is true vintage and comes on a known brand such as Jansport.  Any Jansport backpack is a BOLO and this one fell in the middle of the pack price wise.

Item: Nat Nast 100% Silk Nautical Boating Buttond Down – Men’s Size Large
Paid Price:
Sale Price: $19.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
Nat Nast is an old well known maker of high end men’s clothing.  We most often find shirts which sell in the $30-40 range.  This one had a couple significant stains that we couldn’t get out but it still sold within a couple weeks!

Item: Altra The One 2.0 Women US 10.5 Purple Zero Drop Running Shoe
Paid Price:
Sale Price: $39.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
The women’s athletic shoes section is the easiest section is almost any thrift store.  Simply stroll down the aisle and pick up anything that looks new or cute!  Almost no woman wants a grungy pair of running shoes, no matter how nice or expensive they once were.  These are a prime example of what to look for and sold in a couple weeks.

Item: Disney Minnie Mouse Musical Snowglobe – Always In My Heart
Paid Price:
Sale Price: $34.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
Disney memorabilia often sells for more on eBay than it did when it was new.  This is understandable for older or rare items but for something like this?  I’m not sure why it sells but it always does!

Item: Videonics Video Equalizer and Audio Mixer – Digital Video
Paid Price: $71.00
Sale Price:
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
If you see something in the ectronics section and think “what the heck is that?!” then you’ve probably got a winner.  In this case, vintage weirdness was a clue that we should look it up, and the 2 sold listings were enough information that we should buy it!

Item: Pendleton Southwestern Navajo Wool Coat – Women’s Size Medium – Blue Weave
Paid Price: $12.00
Sale Price: $129.95
Shipping:
Notes:
Pendleton is always listed as one of the brands to look for…but it’s one that never has paid off ultra well for us.  We typically only pick up bright colors or modern styles.  We avoid sweaters, and old coats.  They may be quality but we haven’t found much of a market for them.  If you have, more power to you!

Item: The Tilley Hat 7 3/4 Tilley Endurables
Paid Price: $6.95
Sale Price: $31.95
Shipping:
Notes:
Luckily the person pricing items at Savers knew more than we did and put this in collectibles!  Turns out the the Tilley hat is quite famous (it has a lifetime warranty against loss so why wouldn’t it be?!).  It also sells well, giving us 4.5x our money in less than a week!  This hat was fairly dirty when we got it but a quick wash in the sink and a stretch over my knee put it in tip top shape.  Oh and the Styrofoam head?  $0.99 at Savers Halloween closeout…

Item: Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie Boogie Cookie Jar – Rare Mint – With Box
Paid Price:
Sale Price: $68.50
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
Nightmare Before Christmas memorabilia are some of the fastest selling and most valuable Disney Collectibles.  This cookie jar still had the original $49.95 price tag on it so we priced it “conservatively” at $68.50.  It sold to a bloke in Australia in less than a week!

Item: Vintage Ekco Stainless Floating Blade Vegetable Potato PEELER Metal Nee Action
Paid Price: $0.25
Sale Price: $12.95
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
Another low profit, consistent seller to be aware of.  These can be found all the time for a quarter in the bottom of thrift store bins.  Look for ones with minimal rust and sharp edges.  Use the “sell similar” feature and snap two quick pics.  People who are going to buy one already know what they’re after so a long description isn’t necessary either.  $10 profit for less than 10 minutes of work!

Item: Sony Walkman Cassette Player/ Digital Tuning, 33 Station Presets WM-FX290W
Paid Price: $1.50
Sale Price: $115 (Best Offer Accepted)
Shipping: Buyer Paid
Notes:
We kind of wussed out on the price here.  We received an offer within a few minutes of listing and, since we needed to pay for our storage unit, accepted it.  We are certain we could have gotten more if we held on but what’s sold is sold!  Any sort of vintage walkman still in the package is incredibly valuable and often undervalued at thrift stores.  Even non-packaged tape player make it into our cart so we can look them up!
