So let me guess, you’re a Poshmark seller? Me too!

Are you looking for some ideas to help with becoming a better seller on the platform? Maybe, you just want to increase your sales? Either way, you’re in the right place.

In order to become a good seller on the platform, you should always follow Poshmark’s community guidelines and rules. Make sure to read these over before you start selling. If you’re already a seller, re-read them to refresh your memory.

But you already knew that.

The really exciting motivation for many new sellers on Poshmark is to obtain the elusive Poshmark Ambassador status.

But how do you become a Poshmark Ambassador and more importantly, how long will it take you?

Well, it took us less than a month from start to finish and this is what we did!

But first, let’s take a look at what the Poshmark Ambassador Requirements are and why you’d want to jump through those hoops:

Poshmark Ambassador Status Requirements

By striving to be a Poshmark ambassador you will boost your creditability among other buyers and sellers. Also, Poshmark will advertise your closet, so you’ll receive more followers over time with the status than without it. Sounds worth it.

Here is the basic list you’ll need to work through:

  • Community Shares: Share at least 5,000 items from other Poshers’ closets. Sharing daily is really the best way to knock this number down. Just be sure to share things that people want to see, not garbage.
  • Self-Shares: Share your own items at least 5,000 times with the community. Again, no marathon. Slow and steady wins the race.
  • Available Listings: Have at least 50 available listings in your closet. Once you have your first item listed on Poshmark you should be able to hit this number within a week or two.
  • Listings Sold: Make at least 15 sales. This will take whatever time it takes. We were willing to lower our prices a bit and accept offers to make it happen faster.
  • Average Rating: Have an average rating of at least 4.5 stars.
  • Average Ship Time: Have an average ship time of fewer than 3 days.
  • Love Notes Given: Leave at least 1 Love Note for another Posher.

If you’re more of a visual person you can download this checklist we made and put it on your wall so you know exactly where you’re at when it comes to achieving your ambassador status!

If you think about it logically, the Poshmark Ambassador program is Poshmark’s way of showing buyers who the good sellers are. So, instead of trying to game the system, just be an exemplary seller and things will take care of themselves!

4 Tips For Becoming A Poshmark Ambassador Faster

1. Be An Active Seller

Poshmark is not quite the same as other shopping apps. In order to do well, you’ll need to be active on the app

Most Poshmark members agree that sharing helps sellers to get more sales. You should try to share the items in your closet every day if you can. If you’re able, set aside sometime each day for sharing.

Be sure to learn Poshmark’s newer bulk-sharing feature. The feature makes it so that you don’t need to share each item individually, but you will still have to choose which items you want it to share for you one at a time.

In addition to sharing your closet, be sure to respond to people quickly and professionally. The buying experience starts when a person first contacts you or likes your items and everyone who shows interest is a potential customer!

2. Take Professional Photographs

Make sure that you’re taking good photographs of your items. By “good” I mean that your photos should be taken from different angles and in well-lit areas. Your photos should give the buyer a good idea of what they are getting. After taking your photos of your item, review them and ask yourself or a friend about how they look.

  • Would you want to buy this item based on the photos alone?
  • Are all sides of the item represented in the photos? (If not, take more photos)
  • Are there any dark or blurry photos that could be deleted?
  • Is the background too busy? (If so, remove extra items in the background)
  • Is your item the main focus of the photos? (If not, move your item to the center of the camera’s viewfinder)

Having great pictures is the main key to increasing your sales and getting to that magical 15 sales you need to become a Poshmark Ambassador even faster!

A Word about Backgrounds

Backgrounds are very important when photographing your items. Try to choose a plain background so that your item is the main focus of the picture. I’ve seen many item photos on Poshmark that are just too busy. There are so many different items in the photo that it becomes difficult to identify which item is actually for sale. Keep things simple for your buyer, so that they won’t be confused when looking through your closet. Also, try to be consistent with your backgrounds so that your closet will have a uniform look to it.

3. Pack Carefully & Ship Fast

Once you’ve made a sale, try to make your package attractive. You can use inexpensive items, such as tissue paper, ribbon, stickers, etc. (we get them at Dollar Tree).

The goal is to make your buyer happy to receive their item. Everyone receives packages in the mail. Your goal is to make your package stand out amongst others so that you will be remembered by the buyer.  Try including thank you cards and a business card if you have one. These simple acts may lead to repeat sales.  Taking a few minutes of time to package your item nicely will show the buyer that you care about his or her purchase.

Try to ship your items out the same or the next day if possible. To reach Ambassador status you have to have an average ship time of 3 days or less but don’t push it.

Most buyers expect shipment the next day and taking too long can increase the risk of receiving a poor rating.

Besides, no one likes waiting forever for their packages. You cannot control how long the shipping process takes once a package is out of your hands, but you can drop off your items at the post office in a timely manner. If you’re busy or have a lot of sales, you can even schedule a mailperson to pick up your packages at your place of residence.

4. Model Successful Stores

You can look for inspiration from department stores for your closet. What I mean is that if you see an attractive display or mannequin outfit, you can incorporate something similar into your Poshmark closet. In addition, do your research and follow the colors and trends that you see on fashion blogs and in stores. Look for the brands that are selling well on Poshmark by Googling them.

When stores are starting to bring out inventory for a certain season, such as winter, do the same with your inventory. You can even change your photo backgrounds for the different seasons to offer some variety in your closet. Just make sure that you’re using your own photos. Poshmark does not allow the use of stock photos.

The more closely you can follow the patterns of established sellers the faster you can climb the ladder. Reading Poshmark Ambassador status is simply a matter of doing the right things for long enough for Poshmark to notice.

If you’ve done everything you need to, there’s no need to apply, Poshmark will automatically award the status to your account!

Where Can I Find My Ambassador Status?

If you’re eager to know the second that becoming an ambassador works out you can check your status at any time either on the app or website.

Simply go to your Account Tab, select My Posh Stats and look for Posh Ambassador to review your status.

When you first make it into the program your will also receive a welcome email from Posh congratulating you and explaining a bit more about the program.

Can I Lose My Ambassador Status On Poshmark?

Once you’ve attained you’re new god-status as a Poshmark Ambassador you’ll need to continue with the standards you’ve achieved if you want to keep your title.

If you violate Poshmark’s TOS, Community Guidelines, etc. you can be removed from the Ambassador program.

With that being said, you have to be messing up pretty egregiously to have a problem and I haven’t known any serious sellers who have had an issue.

Conclusion

Becoming successful on Poshmark isn’t as easy as it sounds.  In order to attain Poshmark ambassador status, you’ll need to put in the required work. Remember to follow Poshmark’s rules and community guidelines, share your items as frequently as possible, and list new items periodically. Finally, keep the buyer in mind when packaging and shipping out your items.

Once you’ve built a solid foundation and have some clout as a Poshmark ambassador, consider branching out and sharing your Poshmark Invite Code for even more padding in your bank account!

If you are playing by the rules, there is no reason that you can’t become part of Poshmark’s Ambassador program within a month or two of signing up. Good luck!
